About Me
- Name: Youth Action Research Group
- Location: Washington, D.C.
YARG is a youth driven organization in which teens from all over D.C. come together to talk about the issues that affect their lives, such as youth employment, gentrification, youth violence, school policies, and whatever else our youth members decide is important. We focus on making change by organizing to build our power. Organizing is when individuals and organizations come together to fight for social change. We use our own experiences and research to create change in our communities. We participate in community meetings and testify before city council to have our opinions heard. We step up and let people know there is a need for change and what that change should look like. Young people are important in building community and making social change especially around policies that affect them the most. Since many of the changes being made in our community affect youth, we should have a voice as to what those changes are. - Aqiyla Edwards, Age 16
